Ensure retrievable copies of EPHI are available

EPHI is primarily saved in medical records software and practice management systems. The applications and data generated within them are fully backed up. The network storage space may also contain EPHI and is subject to backup.

The Information Technology Division will maintain electronic backups of information on all Division centrally managed systems and servers to facilitate recovery after an incident resulting in the loss of data. The Division will store and maintain current backups on-site and off-site where appropriate.

OSU departmental entities may have the IT Division create, maintain, and store backups of systems not centrally managed by the Division.
